Kim Ghattas

​A trustee since 2016, and an AUB graduate (BA ’99), Ghattas is a BBC correspondent and a columnist for Foreign Policy magazine. She is currently a senior visiting fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. A former public policy fellow at the Wilson Center for International Scholars Ghattas is a sought after speaker on international affairs, the Middle East, media, and women's issues in the Arab world. She is the author of the New York Times best seller The Secretary: A Journey with Hillary Clinton from Beirut to the Heart of American Power. As the BBC’s State Department correspondent for six years, she traveled around the world with three US secretaries of state conducting many interviews including more than 15 with Secretary of State Clinton. Before her posting to Washington, DC, Ghattas was based in Beirut for a decade where she worked for the BBC and covered the Middle East. She was part of an Emmy Award-winning team covering the July 2006 war. Ghattas was formerly a correspondent for The Financial Times, de Volkskrant, and The Daily Star.​
