Abdulla Al-Thani, PhD

​A trustee since 2011, Al-Thani is adviser in the Amiri Diwan, Doha. He is vice chairman of the Board of Trustees of Qatar University, and of the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, and serves as chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies in Qatar. Formerly, Al-Thani was vice president of education at Qatar Foundation (2005-15), inaugural president of Hamad Bin Khalifa University (2010-15), and chairman of the World Innovation Summit for Education (2009-15). He is a board member and managing director of the Qatar Leadership Centre, and a board member of Georgetown University and of Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy. Al-Thani received a bachelor’s degree from Qatar University, a master’s from Colorado State University, and a doctorate from the University of Southampton.​​
