Gifts and Grants

The Gifts, Grants, and Contracts (GGC) section at the office of the comptroller is a service support unit that offers assistance to the university community for their creative scholarly and research endeavors. The section provides administrative, financial, and support services to externally funded research projects.

The section has two main functions: Project accounting and management information

1.        The section receives authorization letters from different parties

2.        Determines the nature of funds

3.        Assigns accounting setup of research account codes

4.        Implements policies and procedures to maintain compliance with contracts, the university policies, procedures, and renovations

5.        Develops comprehensive financial reports and statements

6.        Ensures fund control, disbursements, receivables, and receipts

7.        Reconciles reports, ensures accuracy of financial data; monitors and communicates accounting information and secures budget information

8.        Maintains strong communication and excellent working relationships with departments and research projects teams

9.        Assist project/department managers in understanding their project financial issues
