Payroll  

The Payroll section at the Office of the Comptroller is responsible for: 

  • Managing and processing employee salaries and wages.
  • Handling amounts due on retro-active contracts, adjustments in salary, Lebanese and US income taxes, social security deductions, changes in family status, family allowances and any other human resources actions and records accordingly.
  • Processing casual and student payrolls.
  • Preparing quarterly returns to the NSSF regarding family allowances and end of service benefits. 
  • Ensuring that all queries from employees regarding deductions and other payroll matters are promptly, accurately, and courteously resolved.
  • Handling all Lebanese and US tax matters, and monitoring changes in US and Lebanese tax and social security laws affecting payroll. Ensuring appropriate withholding of Old Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance (OASDI) and Medicare from employees who are US citizens or green card holders.
  • Establishing, controlling and distributing, for processing, HR notices of changes in employee status, and notices from all other departments, including attendance, housing, and telephone charges, etc. 
  • Reporting to the HR department AUB earnings and contributions towards the end of service branch of NSSF, TIAA and other pension plans. 
  • Processing transactions and preparing monthly reports for Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association (TIAA) and College Retirement Equities Fund (CREF) contributions.
  • Monitoring family and citizenship status for American citizens and green card holders, including number of allowances for US Form W4 in addition to the preparation of annual US W2 Forms.
