The program uses ecologically guided design principles to promote environmental sustainability and to create a sense of place and region. Graduates are encouraged to develop landscape designs that are based on an understanding of local community needs and on the mindful use of natural resources in the Mediterranean and semi-arid regions. The four year program leads to the B.S. in Landscape Design and Ecosystem Management and the Diploma of Ingenieur Agricole, enabling students to join the Lebanese Order of Engineers. There are 3 areas of study: Landscape design, landscape horticulture, and environment and sustainable landscape management. FAFS awards this degree upon the completion of 139 credits in a minimum of seven semesters, one of which is at AREC. Course topics include landscape design, horticulture, ecological landscape design, environment and sustainable development.
