The Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation "helps reframe perceptions of Islam and the West through dialogue, programs, forums, and educational centers around the world in order to promote a greater understanding between the different faiths and world views." In the pursuit of this mission to improve international and cross-cultural understanding, the foundation has established a number of educational centers, first at American university of Beirut and American University in Cairo, and then at a number of sites in the west: Georgetown University, Harvard University, Cambridge University, and Edinburgh University. More centers are planned in Europe and Asia. The first meeting of the Alwaleed Centers was held in London in March 2009 and the second meeting was held in Beirut in March 2010.
