ECONOMICS STUDENT SOCIETY
The AUB Economics Student Society is a student group that is run by Economics students and advised by faculty. There are 64 members in the society during the 2006/2007 academic year.

Mission Statement:
The mission of the Society is to foster inter-student dialogue and active participation within the department, in a way that encourages student/faculty cooperation and helps students extend their views as to how the department can be improved.
The Society Agenda for 2007:
1- Seminars: There will be a series of seminars and lectures on topics concerning the Lebanese, regional, and international economy. The objective of these seminars is to help students broaden their interests and to complement their academic education with empirical evidence.
2- Career workshop: There will be a 2 days workshop probably the 2 and 3 of May whereby faculty, economics students and experts will be invited to present talks to current students about job opportunities available for economics majors, interviews tips, how to write a professional CV, what do they expect from you in a job interview.
3- Students lounge: The ESS will improve the current situation of the department; a student lounge will be set soon where faculty members can meet with students in a favorable and joyful environment away from the academic everyday life. A computer lab will also be launched in the department.
4- Evaluation Session: Students will be able to report their complaints To Whom It May Concern through us. We will hold two separate meetings with students and faculty and collect all your remarks related to the department and forward them to the Chairman of Economics.
5 - Social Events: We would like to plan for the maximum number of social events possible, a Christmas dinner, spring party and a gala dinner where student/faculty relationships will be more consolidated. |
