  GOVERNING PALESTINIAN REFUGEE CAMPS IN THE ARAB EAST
الحكم والإدارة في المخيمات الفلسطينية في المشرق العربي

The two-day workshop will address how a camp is managed in terms of its relationships to the legal authorities of the host country and to the surrounding municipalities, relationships among groups within the camps, and conflict resolution for everyday problems.

Date: 30-31 October 2009
Time: October 30: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. 
           October 31: 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Location: Auditorium B1, College Hall, AUB

Simultaneous translation will be available in Arabic and English.

The workshop aims to:

·        Present the findings of its pilot research project on the modes of governance in Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, the West Bank and Gaza

·        Explore the multiple perspectives on camp governance, ranging from UNRWA, host governments, the international and local communities

·        Discuss the issues at stake in camp governance and propose recommendations.
