Who has access to my question database?

All instructors with editing permission added to your course have access to the quiz and to the question database. From Moodle team, ONLY the system administrator can access your course and the question database upon your request for help and support. As instructor with editing permission, you can track the access to your quiz using the report feature. This feature allows you to track the access of any user in your course including the administrator.

Is my quiz safe? Can I restrict the quiz to a certain computer lab on AUB campus?

Yes, each computer connected to the web has a unique IP address. We can restrict the quiz to be viewed only by specific computers from specific computer labs on campus based on the IP addresses. This way you can guarantee that no one can access your quiz from outside the restricted area even if s/he is on campus. You can contact Moodle administrator on x.3586/3518 to take the range of IP addresses for each computer lab on the AUB campus.

Can I make an "open book" quiz off-campus?

Yes sure, students can take the quiz between the open & close date & time and off-campus if IP addresses field kept empty.

What are the types of questions that I can use in an online quiz?
|
|
Currently we have 16 types: Calculated, Description, Essay, Matching, Embedded Answers, Multiple Choice, Short Answer, Numerical, Random Short-Answer Matching, True/False, Drag-and-Drop-Matching, File Response, Image Target and 3 music related questions. This list is not final. New question types may be added soon by the community developers. More explanation can be found on the quiz settings page (information icon) or by asking us at extension 3580.

Does Moodle automatically correct all types of questions?

All questions are automatically corrected by Moodle except the Essay Question and the File Response types. Instructors should correct them manually.

Can I have a quiz with different versions?
|
|
Yes sure, this can be made by shuffling the questions in the quiz or by shuffling the answers in each question, especially in the multiple choice and matching types. In addition to that instructors can use the calculated question type to give different variable. You can specify a range for each variable so that each student gets a different variable; all using the same formula set by the instructor.

Can the quiz select random questions from a certain pool?
|

Yes, instructors can set the quiz to select randomly number of questions from a pool or category. Also in this case students will have different versions of the quiz.

Can I make the quiz available to students for a certain interval of date and time?
|
|
Yes sure, in the quiz settings you can assign an open and close date and time for the quiz. The quiz won’t be available before and after the date and time assigned.

Can students attempt the quiz more than once?
|
|
Yes, in the quiz settings you can set the number of attempts allowed by the students. It varies from one attempt to unlimited. In addition, there are some settings related to the number of attempts allowed such as time delay between the attempts, each attempt builds on the last and the grading method. Can I hide the quiz grade from the student view?

As instructor you have the option to show or hide the grades.

In addition to the grades what can I show to my students?
|
|
As instructor you have the option to show (responses, answers, feedback, General feedback, scores and overall feedback) to students immediately after the attempt, later while the quiz is still open or after the quiz is closed or nothing at all. How can I create my questions in Moodle?
|
Questions can be created in 2 ways:
- Manualy: by creating them in Moodle (link to the quizzes book) this way is tedious, since you are creating them one by one
- Import: questions can be created outside Moodle and then imported to Moodle. For each question type there is a syntax or script. You can take the template from the (information icon ) and create your questions in notepad or Word document based on the template. Then import your document including the questions to Moodle. I have readymade questions that came with the book I am teaching; can I import them to Moodle?

Yes, we can convert these questions based on their type to a format that can be accepted by Moodle then import them to Moodle.

If I have a mistake in one of the questions, can I correct it while the quiz is running?
|
|
Yes, Moodle allows you to correct questions while the quiz is running; this requires the students to refresh the pages to see the changes.
|
Can I correct a question after the quiz is closed; what about the grades?
|
|
Yes, you can correct questions after the quiz is closed and change the answer and even the weight but you have to run the re-grade feature to let Moodle go through all the submissions.

Is there any statistics related to the submissions?
|
|
Yes, some statists related to the student’s submission can be found under the item analysis tab.
