Turnitin in Moodle |

Turnitin is an Internet-based service intended to help identify and prevent plagiarism cases. Turnitin is integrated with Moodle, which means that instructors and students can use it directly from inside Moodle at AUB.
|
|
Moodle is the current Learning Management System adopted at AUB. It allows instructors to easily post course information, hold class discussions, communicate with students, and hold exams online.

 How Does Turnitin in Moodle Work?
|
- Through Moodle, instructors and students can submit documents to Turnitin
- Turnitin's servers compare documents submitted with:
- millions of pages of academic journals, books and newspapers,
- over 4.5 billion pages of the current and archived Internet, and
- Turnitin's databases of over 10 million student papers
- The results of the comparison between a student paper and the above sources returns as a color-coded customized originality report
- The Originality Report shows all text matches found, along with the sources of those matches. The report will guide instructors in deciding whether or not plagiarism has occurred
Faculty should have a clear understanding of plagiarism and should be familiar with the AUB Student Code of Conduct when dealing with possible plagiarism cases among their students.

| How can AUB Faculty use Turnitin in Moodle?

- Log in to Moodle
- In your course, choose to create an assignment activity of the type:
- Upload a single file or of type Advanced uploading of files
- In the assignment settings, choose Yes to use Turnitin Submission
- Anything submitted to this assignment will also be submitted to Turnitin

| How can Students use Turnitin in Moodle?
|
- Your instructor will create an assignment inside Moodle
- You log in to your Moodle account and click on the corresponding assignment
- Submit your solution to the assignment
- Moodle will send your submission to Turnitin
