Since university research support is limited to small amounts of funding and is focused on supplying seed money for small projects or start up of projects, faculty members are encouraged to solicit research funding from external funding agencies, organizations and foundations.
The office provides four lists of Grant Announcements. The first three lists are sorted by specific, regular or open deadlines and they are updated regularly. The lists are sorted alphabetically by sponsor name, and include such information as the program title, the website link to the full description of the research program, a synopsis of the program, and the deadline date for proposal submission. The fourth list is provided by the Mohammad Bin Rashi Al-Maktoum Foundation, and contains regional funding opportunities available for Arab researchers.
1. Specific deadlines
2. Regular annual deadlines
3. Open deadlines
4. Mohammad Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Foundation (Regional Funding Opportunities)
Each program or funding scheme has its own characteristics, eligibility criteria, application procedures, funding areas/topics, and funding levels. Faculty members are encouraged to search the lists regularly and make sure of the following:
1. Matching Objectives: Project objectives are closely aligned to the funding objectives of the program.
2. Eligibility: Find out whether AUB as an institution is eligible to apply.
3. Budget: Find out the funding limit of the program, and the allowable costs.
4. Deadline: Check whether you have the time to write a good proposal against the proposal submission deadline.
