New Student Orientation and Advising

New International Degree Students are expected to attend both their faculty or group specific orientation day event (as listed below), AND the International Student Welcome Day events on Friday the 30th.  Note that events on the first three days are intended for students entering AUB at the sophomore level or as transfer students.

Visiting International Students, meaning those who will be at AUB for a semester or academic year only, are expected to attend the VIS orientation event on Tuesday AND the Friday Welcome Day events for all new international students.

We recommend that you arrive in Beirut no later than the night prior to your group's special orientation and advising events, as most events begin early in the morning. Failure to attend an orientation day event has in the past caused severe stress and restricted access to the full panoply of desired classes or housing options for new international students.  We do not recommend missing orientation, even if you are well acquainted with Lebanon in general.

Registration for Fall Semester classes begins on Friday, the 30th, continuing through Wednesday the 4th of September; which is also the first day of classes for all Faculties except Medicine. The Fall 2014 semester will end on Saturday, December 21st.

Welcome Incoming  International Students!

This next semester AUB expects to accept hundreds of international students, from as close as Syria and as far away as Brazil.  A special Welcome Day for all New International Students is offered every semester to help introduce you to one another and to supplement the information available in other New Student Orientation programming, as part of AUB's "Orientation Week" activities.

A preliminary schedule of New Student events is available in the main panel of this page.  Useful information about  these events, as well as step-by-step guides, and required forms, for becoming a part of the AUB community can be found at the New Student Orientation website.

If you can't find what you need on this page or the New Student Orientation page, contact a OIP professional or helpful student mentor by e-mailing oip<at>aub.edu.lb.  We look forward to meeting you soon!

Reminders
  • An "international student" means all new students who do not hold a Lebanese passport; even students from other Arab nations and who are Lebanese by heritage but who grew up outside the country.
  • Have questions about housing, tuition, registration or e-mail?  Answers to these and many similar questions are available on the New Student Orientation Program website.
  • Additional social events will be scattered throughout Orientation Week and the semester to help you bond with your fellow AUB students.  Weather permitting, these will most likely include a Paintball or Bowling outing, a narrated walking tour of Beirut (by an AUB history grad), and a day-long excursion to the AUB agricultural reseach center -- and other creative options. Details will be made available during the Welcome Day event!
