Advancement in Hospital Management Program
The Advancement in Hospital Management Program addresses critical health care needs with an emphasis on human resource requirements and professional medical training needed to improve health care delivery. The training program provided will allow for continuing medical education and related health care training. Target Participants

Upon the completion of the modules all trainees will receive an official certificate of completion from the American University of Beirut’s Continuing Education Center.

Emergency Health Rehabilitation Program
The objectives of EHRP are to:
- Improve emergency medical services and advance emergency medical technician (EMT) human resources;
- Provide technical training to hospital-based nurses and paramedics through clinical attachment and knowledge updating in Emergency Medical Services (EMS);
- Allow for a conducive, structured, and state-of-the-art environment for trainees to become EMS certified trainers and instructors for local nurses and paramedics.
The program aims to provide specialized technical training in emergency medical services and life support programs for hospital-based nurses and paramedics working in emergency departments of general hospitals.
The program consists of the following modules:
- Module I: Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS)
- Module II: Advanced Care Trauma for Nurses (ACTN)
- Module III: Training of Trainers (TOT)
- Module IV: Major Incident Medical Management Support (MIMMS)
Upon the completion of the modules all trainees will receive an official certificate of completion from the American University of Beirut’s Continuing Education Center (CEC). Intensive Programs Module Descriptions
AHMP Module 1: Current Practices in Health Care Organizations
This module will focus on efficiency, effective performance, quality of care, performance improvement, service-profit chain, and managerial roles.
AHMP Module II: Global Trends in Healthcare Human Resources
This module will discuss in detail the trends impacting human resources: Demographics, Economics, Globalization, Labor Shortage, and technology.
AHMP Module III: Cost-Effective Performance Improvement
This module will focus on quality and cost, types of costs, prevention vs. failure costs, efficiency and PI, measures to enhance materials management and procurement, staffing review and cost containment, and performance measurement.
AHMP Module IV: Quality Management and Improvement and Accreditation
This module will discuss the definition of quality management, dimensions of quality, types of quality measurements, quality management principles, and the three P’s of quality activity.
EHRP Module I: Basic Trauma Life Support
This module prepares participants to deal with cardiopulmonary arrest and trauma secondary to several factors. It will focus on basic life support, and advanced cardiac life support.
EHRP Module II: Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses
The Advanced Trauma Nursing Care module is developed to teach established standards of trauma care. The module focuses on practical and life-saving skills. These skills are especially needed by nurses working in distressed countries who experience high incidence of critical cases. This module provides the participant with skills to manage multiple trauma patients.
EHRP Module III: Training of Trainers
This module is designed to help develop the training skills of future trainers who will be educating other nurses and paramedics in their home institutions. Topics that will be covered are: searching for evidence based answer, adult learning, curriculum design, giving an effective presentation, and evaluation methods.
EHRP Module IV: Major Incident Medical Management and Support
This module will address the role of different professionals in response to a major incident. Topics that will be covered are: Scene command and control, communications, triage, safe transport, management, equipment, ensuring a safe environment, and psychological well-being.
