4- How much do you charge for overdue items?

All items returned after date due are charged, please see table above.

5- If I lose an item from the library, what happens?

All lost items (for any reason) by the borrower will have to be replaced by another copy. So the borrower has the choice of either getting SML another copy of the same item, or paying the cost of that item for the library to buy a replacement copy.

6- Do you have photocopy machines in the library?

Yes, we have two self-service photocopiers that need magnetic cards to operate them. These cards can be bought from SML (100 units for 5000 L.L.).

7- If I do not know where to look for information, who can help me?

You should  go to the Reference Librarian for help and guidance, or go to "Help" from SML homepage. SML also has tutorials link that you can access at all times to get instructions.

8- If an article is not availabe locally, can you order it for me?

Documents (journal articles, reports, and book pages) can be requested from CISTI (Canada Institute for Scientific and Technical Information). Usually it takes 24 hours to receive (occasionally it might take more time), and the charge is L.L. 23,000 per document. To request this service contact the Reference librarian or Click here.
If document is not at CISTI it might be ordered from the British Library but the cost is usually much more depending on copyright charges. -Sometimes we can get you the article for free and within few hours.

9- Can I post a question to the Reference Librarian through e-mail?

Yes you can do that by sending your question to the e-mail smlref@aub.edu.lb. But remember to include some information on your educational background and how to contact you, other than by e-mail.
Another way is to go to the E-reference Question Form.

10- If I want to buy a book / journal for me personally, can I do it through SML?

We only provide you with directions.

In order to have full access to these resources, you need to click on the resource, and then enter your AUB username and password.
