The Custodial Services Managers is directly responsible for the cleanliness of all AUB facilities.
The Custodial Services division strives to provide clean and healthy environment for the occupants of the University buildings.
The Custodial Services have been divided into areas, for better planning and control:
- Academic Facilities
- Housing of Faculty
- Housing of Students
- Housing of Nurses
- I.C. Academic Facilities
Typical tasks include:
- Sweeping, mopping and vacuuming floors and stairs
- Scrubbing and disinfecting toilets, urinals and lavatories
- Cleaning, polishing and/or disinfecting entrance glass, drinking fountains, mirrors, common phones and elevators
- Pulling trash and recycling paper
- Replacing burn-out light bulbs and maintaining exit lights
- Maintaining fire extinguishers
Daily CleaningEntrance area, common areas (hallways, stairwells, student lounges, lobbies), rest rooms, and other areas are cleaned daily.
Twice Weekly CleaningClassrooms and departmental offices are cleaned thoroughly twice weekly and polished on alternate days.
Biweekly CleaningIndividual faculty and staff offices are cleaned once every two weeks throughout the year.
Quarterly CleaningHigh traffic common areas are addressed on a quarterly basis as breaks in the academic calendar permit.
Annual CleaningIntense floor care work, shampooing for carpeted areas and stripping / refinishing for hard surfaces, is generally performed annually between May and August.
Special Event Requests (Charged to requester)Departments or individuals scheduling programs or functions, submit their needs to Physical Plant Help Desk at Extension 2015 via email or Service Request.
