The American University of Beirut (AUB) has served as a bridge between East and West for more than a century and a quarter.  Lying as it does at the crossroads of Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia, and offering an educational program in the American liberal arts tradition, the University has always placed an emphasis on cross-cultural dialogue.  AUB now announces a new program -- Understanding Contemporary Islam – that will expand that dialogue by sending scholars from the Islamic world to universities and colleges in the United States as visiting fellows who will serve as resources on Islam and life in contemporary Muslim societies.
