ANNOUNCEMENT

New grants by Faculty of Medicine to foster interfaculty research

In line with its commitment to foster collaborative research efforts, the Faculty of Medicine at AUB is announcing new interfaculty grant research initiatives.

Two requests for applications (RFA) have been announced to support projects in biomedical research.

The first RFA looks to support a collaborative research project with a minimum of three investigators to generate sufficient data for extramural funding applications. For this RFA, the Principal Investigator must me a member of the Faculty of Medicine while co-investigators can be members of any of the six faculties at AUB. Two proposals will be funded, each for $100,000.00 to be spent over a three year period.

The second RFA looks to support highly innovative projects that have not been previously funded. This grant is open to all faculty members at AUB, provided there is a collaborating faculty member from the Faculty of Medicine. Five proposals will be funded on a competitive basis. Two of the grants awarded will be named "Farouk Jabre Interfaculty Grants" with the funding amount for each proposal to be $30,000 for one year.

The three remaining grants will be named "Dean's Office Innovative Grant Awards" with the funding amount for each proposal to be $20,000 for one year.

The main purpose of these new awards is to provide initial funding to generate sufficient preliminary data to ultimately seek extramural funding.
