Technology as Identity

 

The Department of Architecture & Design cordially invites you to a public lecture by Ayah Bdeir entitled "Technology as Identity Experiments at the Intersection of Art, Design and Technology" on Friday Dec. 19 at 6:30 in the Architecture Lecture Hall.

Ayah Bdeir

Ayah Bdeir is an artist, engineer and interaction designer based in New York. She graduated from the American University of Beirut with a degree in Computer Communication Engineering and minor in Sociology and went on to complete her masters at the MIT Media Lab in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Throughout her work, Bdeir uses technology to look at cross cultural dialogue and media representation of the Middle East and its identities. Her work combines tools of design and engineering and spans a range of mediums including interactive installations, electronic fashion, gadgets and reactive furniture. Her research and projects have been published and exhibited in conferences, fashion shows and galleries in Amsterdam, Berlin, Paris, New York, Rhode Island, Boston and Sao Paolo.
In 2007, Bdeir was awarded an artist fellowship at Eyebeam (www.eyebeam.org )
