Message from VP Message from VP Tomey Regarding Attendance
July 21, 2006
In view of the situation and in attempt to help its personnel, the
University has decided to apply the following on a one time basis:
- Regular full-time non-academic staff who do not attend to their duties as
a result of the recent events in Lebanon for any period from July 12, 2006
through July 31, 2006 will be considered on annual leave and such absence
will be charged to the individual's annual earned leave according to the
following formula:
- Every working day of absence will be charged half day of earned leave. If
however the earned leave does not cover the number of days of absence up to
July 31, 2006 then Deans and Department Heads are kindly asked to request
their employees and workers to make up the time at a later date or charge
2006-2007 vacation.
- Regular full-time non-academic staff who have actually attended to their
duties (except for those who are housed on Campus or in hotels) in the
University for 10 working days or more during the period starting July 12,
2006 through July 31, or later, will be credited with 25% of a day of
vacation for each day fully worked or the University may consider their
payment in lieu.
- Those housed on Campus or in hotels will receive the per diem as indicated
in the V/P Bernson's memo dated July 19, 2006 and will not be eligible for
the transportation allowance. The first payment will be made next week.
All the above measures are applicable only till July 31, 2006 after which
new measures will be announced.
George Tomey
Vice President for Administration
