Message from the Acting President on Attendance

In view of the situation and in attempt to help its personnel, the University has decided to apply the following measures on a one time basis:
Regular full-time non-academic staff who do not attend to their duties as a result of the recent events in Lebanon for any period from August 1, 2006 through August 15, 2006 will be considered on annual leave and such absence will be charged to the individual.s annual earned leave according to the following formula:
- Every working day of absence will be charged half day of earned leave. If however the earned leave does not cover the number of days of absence up to August 15, 2006, then the 2006-2007 vacation will be used. When all the vacation days are consumed, the employee will be on no-pay status.
- Regular full-time non-academic staff who will attend to their duties between August 1 and August 15, 2006 will be paid an exceptional hardship allowance on a one time basis equal to 20% of their salary for each day of work prorated on the number of working days attended.
- The per diem specified in V/P Bernson.s email of July 19, 2006 will be discontinued as of August 1, 2006.
