Help AUB Help Lebanon
Ways to support AUB Emergency Relief Efforts
Communicate
There are two key methods - other than financial - that you can utilize to help in our efforts at this critical time.
Contact your elected representatives
Visit these websites for details in the U.S.:
www.senate.gov
www.house.gov
Do you or anyone you know have direct links to elected representatives, or to federal officials? If so, please let us know. AUB has been in regular contact with the U.S. State Department since the crisis began. We need as many voices being heard by the government as possible.
Contact your local media
Send letters to the editor; for those so positioned, propose op-ed pieces, radio and television interviews. The more the message is spread, the more opportunities will exist to inform the wider public about the situation. Again, if you have any contacts in media that you think would be useful (for example, for interviews with AUB administrators and faculty,) please let us know.
Please share with us any of the results of your advocacy efforts. Email us at alumni@aub.edu.lb or call AUB at 212.583.7600.
Support our Volunteers
A multidisciplinary volunteer relief group has been formed to provide support to the thousands displaced in Lebanon. Volunteers, residents and faculty, together with AUBMC, are working with other NGOs to provide on-site healthcare at refugee centers. Volunteers will prepare packages of medications and relief materials for mobile clinics to deliver to refugees; participate in free evening clinics that supply medications and outpatient care; and participate in health education campaigns.
Support to the Medical Emergency Fund will enable volunteers to carry out these critical relief efforts. If you live and reside in North America, please help our volunteers by supporting the AUB Emergency Medical Fund.
Provide Medical Supplies
We expect that a humanitarian passageway for critical supplies will open soon. We are developing a list of supplies we will need. Some supplies will fall into the following categories: medical narcotics, antibiotics, chemo-therapeutics, anesthesia agents and filters for machines. We are determining ways in which AUB can transport medications and medical supplies to Lebanon. If you are able to help with these efforts, please contact the AUB New York Office at 212.583.7600.
