    Stv.tv and The Peninsula Online of April 1 and Arabianbusiness.com and Dar Al-Hayat of April 3 reported on the two-day Arab Forum for Environment and Development during which world environmental experts said that Arab states, likely to be among those hit hardest by climate change, are not doing enough to promote renewable energy. The paper quoted Mey Jurdi, a professor of environmental health at the American University of Beirut, as saying, “They keep saying we need more research. Why do you need additional diagnosis when the patient is dying?”

  • Bleacher Report of April 5 published an article featuring 50 athletes who left sports but then made a comeback. The list included Steve Kerr who dealt with the tragedy of the murder of his father, Malcolm Kerr, former president of the American University of Beirut.

  • Eventseer.net of April 6 published a call for papers for the forthcoming 2010 International Symposium on Software Testing and Analysis (ISSTA) Workshop on Dynamic Analysis (WODA) to be held on July 12-16, 2010, in Trento, Italy. The paper said that the program committee includes Professor Wassim Masri of the American University of Beirut.

  • PRinside and eMediaWorld of April 6 carried the announcement by Oakleaf, a leading provider of sustainable waste logistics, that it appointed Mario Harik as its new chief information officer. The paper said that Harik is an AUB alumnus.

  • Observer.com of April 7 reported that Weight Watchers International Chairman, Raymond Debbane, chose to spend $5.95 million to buy an apartment on 515 Park Avenue. The paper said that Debbane got her education at the American University of Beirut.

  • ANBA of April 8 reported that the Vice President for Regional and External Programs at the American University of Beirut, Hassan Diab, is considering creating an agreement of collaboration between AUB and the  São Caetano do Sul Municipal University in Brazil.

  • American Journal of Otolaryngology of April 14 published the results of a study on the effects of fasting on voice production among males. The paper said that the study was co-authored, among other researchers, by Abdul Latif Hamdan and Jihad Achkar from the American University of Beirut Medical Center's Department of Otolaryngology, and Abla Sibai of the AUB Faculty of Health Sciences’ Department of Epidemiology and Population Health.

  • The Washington Times of April 14 published an opinion piece, which argued that the constant rise in construction in Lebanon forecasts hope for peace in the country. The paper gave the example of the dedication of the new Olayan School of Business building at the American University of Beirut on October 13, which was funded by the family of the late Saudi business leader and 30-year university trustee, Suliman S. Olayan.

  • iStock Analyst of April 14, Terra Net, The Daily Star, Al-Mustaqbal, Lebanese Kataeb, and 14 March of April 15, and Al-Bayraq of April 16 announced that the American University of Beirut Medical Center is participating in a National Organ Donation project to reinforce the capabilities of tissue and organ donation and transportation in the country.
