Middle East Online of May 3 published a political editorial by Rami Khouri, director of the AUB Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs, entitled, "The Israel Lobby Becomes Part of the Debate." Trade Arabia of May 2 and AME Info of May 3 reported that Muscat Private Hospital (MPH) announced that emergency consultants Dr. Mohamad M.M. Al Obeid, Consultant Emergency Medicine; Dr. Gamal Mohamed El Sherbiny, MBBCH, MRCSEd; and specialist Dr. Wadieh Najjar MBBCH have recently joined the emergency room team at MPH. The paper said that Dr. Najjar, who is also member of the American College of Surgery as an Advanced Trauma Life Support Provider and Instructor, graduated from American University of Beirut. Al-Ghad of May 4 published an Arabic translation of a political editorial by Rami Khouri, director of the AUB Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs, entitled, "The Israel Lobby Becomes Part of the Debate." Al-Rroya, Laha Online, and All Voices of May 5 reported on a the results of a study conducted at the American University of Beirut that found that smoking costs Lebanon up to 55.4 million dollars per year in economic losses, 3,500 lives, and $326.7 million each year in healthcare charges, misplaced farming subsidies, environmental damage, and tobacco-related worker inefficiency.

It also announced the election of the Chairperson and Vice Chairman, the formation of various board committees, as well as the election Ali Abdulrahman Al-Wazzan as new non-executive director. Saba Net, Khaleej Times, and Emirates News Agency of May 13 and The Eye of Dubai of May 14 reported that Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid al-Maktoum, vice-president, and prime minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai, honored the winners of the 9th Arab Journalism Awards at a ceremony at the end of the Arab Media Forum 2010. The paper said that Dalia Saudi, from the Egyptian magazine Wajahat Nathar, received the award in the Press Interviews Journalism category for her interview with French journalist Allan Jreish. She was presented the award by Magda Abu-Fadil, director of Journalists Training Program at the American University of Beirut. Khaleej Times of May 15 published a political editorial suggesting different alternative means to fight the war on terror. The paper said that in 1919, Howard Bliss, the second president of the Syrian Protestant College, now American University of Beirut, addressed the Versailles Peace Conference at the end of World War I, urging the Allies to send a mixed commission to Syria and Lebanon to identify what the people want. The paper also said that Bliss underscored the necessity for freedom of self-expression, self-determination, and justice. AME Info of May 18 announced that as of fall 2010, the American University of Beirut will start implementing changes related to tuition and financial aid.
