Qatar News Agency of November 3 reported that the Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy and Industry Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah met with President of the American University of Beirut Peter Dorman and discussed aspects of cooperation between the Ministry and the University. Abraj Capital of November 4 reported that Rami Khouri, the director of the AUB Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs will be giving a talk at the Celebration of Entrepreneurship 2010. Al-Rai of November 12 published an interview with Shirine Maktabi on her participation in an embroidery fair in Kuwait and the family collection she displayed and sold there. Kuwait News Agency of November 19 reported that only seven Arab participants took part in the First International Symposium for Research on Health Systems despite the presence of more than 1,200 participants from about 100 countries. The scientific regulatory body for the conference, which includes 100 researchers, has only one Arab member, Dr. Fadi al-Jardali, who is a researcher in the Department of Health Management and Policy at the American University of Beirut. Zawya of November 19 published an article on the banking system in Lebanon. It said that Lebanon has one of the highest debt to gross domestic product ratios in the world, which affects the investment climate. AUB professor of economics Marcus Marktanner said, “The only way out of this dysfunctional impasse is for banks to expand overseas... Aswat Al-Iraq of November 26 reported that Al-Mada Culture and Arts House in Baghdad commemorated late Iraqi historian, Abdul-Aziz al-Duri, who passed away in Jordan at the age of 91.
