Learning Outcomes Assessment at Course and Program Levels
Purpose:
The purpose of the workshop is to help faculty
- Become familiar with basic principles and approaches of outcomes assessment.
- Select assessment approaches that best fit their course objectives and teaching techniques.
- Develop a variety of classroom assessment instruments that measure student learning.
- Understand the process and tools for program assessment in order to evaluate program effectiveness in terms of measurable student learning outcomes.
Who should attend: Department chairs and faculty members familiar with learning outcomes.
Seminar Venue: West Hall Room 204
Topics:
- Basic principles of outcomes assessment.
- Developing an assessment plan at the course level
- Defining purposes (formative, summative)
- Selecting tools to match learning outcomes and teaching techniques
- Designing different assessment techniques.
- Assessment methods at program level
