Seminar on Developing Learning Outcomes
1. The seminar activities most useful to my courses are:
Discovering valuable, clear and transparent objectives, in communicating with students, organizing my ideas, avoiding redundancy and gaps
The part of rewriting course objectives in terms of GIO's and SLO's
 Yes
 Critical thinking
Some clarification of difference between GIO and SLO
Discussion and refinements of my course syllabi in light of the information provided in seminar
Handouts (slides provided), direct exercise applications
2. The new ideas I got from the seminar are:
To articulate objectives that not only by ability with analytic methods and problem solving, but by clear statements on the syllabus.
Use rigor even in the simplest tasks
GIO, SLO think of what are the component of my courses and what do I want students to come out with than organize them under GIO, SLO
 Structure is not that bad
Learning outcomes should be focused on one outcome each
Importance of refining course objectives and learning outcomes into more specific formulations
How to set up objectives for a course and traning
3. Suggestions to improve today's seminar:
Start with description of what issues will be addressed, and what will not be addressed.
Include more activities ( maybe a couple more)
Don't get hanged over obtrusive comments in class that might derail the course of the seminar
 It was alright mind sparing
Finish presentation faster then open floor for discussion
Including one example ( in full) relating to a specific course and to illustrate GIOs and SLOs
 None
4. Other comments:
As above, maybe include a detailed description of the issues (non issues) in the instruction to prevent anyone from being confused or disappointed.
The info in some slides appears to be more complex than it actually is.
Change the layout of the slides (the background) good work and thank you for your time, we appreciate it
I enjoyed it. I was not sure about this when I signed for it. But I didn't regret it.
I liked the facilitation and the seminar was generally useful
Perfect topics, excellent lecturer / moderators, more and more sessions.
