This seminar focuses on the purpose for and process of mentoring faculty. Topics will address issues such as: who is a mentor, who assigns a mentor, what are the expectations of a mentor/mentoree, existing work load and mentoring, etc.
The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is sponsoring an open forum on faculty mentoring. This open forum is intended to provide interested members of the faculty with an opportunity to share their ideas on faculty mentoring: its nature; its usefulness (if it is useful at all); how it is practiced at AUB (if it is practiced at all); and what, if anything, need to be done to improve current practice.
A panel of three faculty members, Professors Huda Zurayk, Saouma Boujaoudeh, and Nader Kabbani (a dean of a faculty, a department chair, and an assistant professor) will present their respective views and perspectives on faculty mentoring. Each panelist will have between 10 to 15 minutes to raise questions and present their views and/or experiences. The remaining time will be devoted to questions and comments from the audience.
The forum will be held on Friday, March 18, 2005, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm in College Hall, B1.
All faculty members are welcome to participate.
