The Daniel Bliss Society

Demonstrating leadership. Inspiring others.

Each year, a select group of alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and friends express their support and leadership of AUB by joining or renewing their membership in the Daniel Bliss Society.

The society is named in memory of Daniel Bliss, AUB’s founder and first president (1866-1902).  Daniel Bliss knew that the survival and early success of the Syrian Protestant College, as  AUB was known at that time, depended on “the loving thought, the firm purpose, [and] the liberal gifts of men far beyond the sea and ocean, which set in motion all these agencies.”  Today as in the past, AUB and its mission are sustained by the ‘liberal gifts’ of men and women whose annual contributions support AUB’s  mission to educate leaders in all walks of life throughout the Middle East. These are the men and women who join the Daniel Bliss Society.

What Daniel Bliss Society Members Support

The University relies increasingly on the generosity of individual donors to remain competitive by sustaining and increasing offerings in financial aid, laboratories, academic programs, libraries, and student services.  Donors to the Daniel Bliss Society can be confident in the knowledge that their gifts benefit today’s students, and help underwrite a bright future for Lebanon and the region.

Membership Benefits

In appreciation, AUB offers Daniel Bliss Society members special invitations to attend the Daniel Bliss Society Speaker Series and other university events on campus and throughout the world; invitations to annual DBS receptions; opportunities to meet with faculty and deans, and with the president.
