The Scholarship Fundraising Committee was initially established as the College Hall Fundraising Committee to raise funds to help rebuild College Hall. Buoyed by the success of their efforts in support of that campaign, the committee members decided in 1999 to rename themselves and concentrate on raising money to fund scholarships at AUB. Some members feel a particularly personal commitment to this effort, having benefited from financial aid as AUB students themselves. In just the past year, the committee raised more than $125,000 to fund scholarships at AUB and has embarked on an initiative to raise $1 million for endowed financial aid. While it will continue to welcome support from all AUB alumni, the committee plans to focus its efforts in the upcoming year on securing support from the estimated 20,000 alumni who live in Lebanon. |
