The Women’s Auxiliary has been providing support to the AUB Medical Center for more than fifty years— raising money through all those years to help needy patients and purchase equipment and supplies.
In 2004–05, the auxiliary hosted a number of fundraising activities: a comprehensive debate on current issues by Gebran Tueni in November 2004; the annual Christmas Lunch for the Women’s Auxiliary Board Members at the As-Safir Hotel on December 18, 2004; and the perennially popular Toy Tea Party at Marquand House on June 16, 2005, which this year featured a special musical variety program.
Among the individuals who benefited from the generous support of the Women’s Auxiliary this past year were several students in the School of Nursing. As in past years, the auxiliary provided full tuition support ($9,500) for one outstanding nursing student. It also provided an additional $1,950 that was used to fund awards for outstanding nursing students.
The Women’s Auxiliary also gave LL 106 million to the Social Service Department at AUBMC and an additional LL 21 million to help those who were treated at the Emergency Room.
