The members of AUB’s President’s Club are dedicated to improving student life on campus. To fund the wide array of projects that they support, they have sponsored a number of fundraising initiatives over the years including the enormously successful Adopt-a-Bench campaign. So far, 45 benches have been adopted including many of the most popular and heavily used benches on campus – those along the Green Oval, facing West Hall, and in front of the museum. There are still some attractive benches slightly off the beaten track that are up for adoption – available to any donor who is interested in making a gift that will benefit students at AUB.
    This year, the club hosted a fundraising dinner in June 2008 at the Phoenicia Hotel. The 350 invitees who gathered to support the President’s Club and to honor outgoing President John Waterbury each received a small commemorative souvenir as a memento of the very special evening. The club also organized a reception in April 2008 at the recently and beautifully renovated AUB Museum for its members.
    During the past year, the President’s Club donated $250,000 to renovate, equip, and name a 112-student online exam room in Bliss Hall, refurbished student lounges in both the Diana Tamari Sabbagh Building and the Economics Department, and continued their support for the AUB choir and cultural life on campus.
