Although they were initially inspired to work together by the need to raise money to rebuild College Hall, their success in that effort prompted the members of the AUB Scholarship Fundraising Committee to rededicate themselves to another institutional priority: raising money for financial aid. Motivated by the desire to ensure that all academically qualified students have the opportunity to benefit from an AUB education, the Scholarship Fundraising Committee has raised around $431,000 to fund scholarships at AUB since it was established in February 2000.
    Although the mission of the Scholarship Fundraising Committee has not changed, there have been changes in the committee’s leadership. After HE Mr. Khalil Makkawi stepped down as committee chair to become the president of the Worldwide Alumni Association of AUB (WAAAUB) in October 2007, Mr. Jamil Iskandar assumed the position of chair and Mr. Nabil Nassar became vice chair. On June 5, 2008, Mr. Nabil Nassar and Mrs. Asma Abboud were elected chair and vice chair respectively.
