Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is Fingerprints?
A: Fingerprints is a fundraising program for students by students established in 2002. It is run by a team representing graduating students, under the close direction and supervision of the Office of Development and the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs. The objective behind Fingerprints is to encourage graduating students to become involved alumni who support their alma mater. Through this program, AUB gives each graduating student the chance to leave visible Fingerprints in the lives of fellow students by making a donation of $25 or more to a "Fingerprints Endowed Scholarship Fund."

Q: What is an Endowed Scholarship Fund?
A: An endowed scholarship is a fund in which money is invested during the year. Part of the income generated at the end of the fiscal year will be awarded as scholarship awards to AUB students and another part is added to the original fund to maintain its value. In this way, your donation will help AUB students in perpetuity. Each dollar donated by the students is matched with $2 by AUB Trustee Mr. Omar AlFardan and by another match from the USFC. As a result, every $1 contributed to Fingerprints is actually worth $4!!

Q: How will you be acknowledged?
A: All students who will donate to Fingerprints will receive a thank you letter from AUB and their names will be displayed permanently on the AUB Development web site (please see the Fingerprints Donors on your left side on this screen). They will also be invited to a Fingerprints Reception hosted by the President and his wife at Marquand House on June 23, 2010 at 7:00 p.m.

Q: When can I contribute to be recognized as above?
A: Graduating students may contribute any time. However, to attend the reception at Marquand House on June 23, 2010, the Office of Development should receive your donation of $25 or more before that date.

Q: Where and How do I make my contribution?
A: Contributions can be made at the Office of Development in College Hall, 3rd Floor. Moreover, graduating students can authorize the Office of Development to deduct $25 or more from their deposit at the AUB Comptroller’s Office before they collect it. The authorization can also be made at the Office of Development.
