Professor Allan will provide insights on how the MENA region can manage food-water and transition into a water secure future.

The 5th Mediterranean Poultry Summit will be held from October 20 to October 25, on the board of a ship cruising through the Mediterranean Sea, across numerous ports in Italy, Spain, and France.
Dean Emeritus Nuhad Daghir, president of the Mediterranean Poultry Network, is presiding over the conference and presenting one of the keynote papers during the 1st plenary session. Dr. Muhamad Farran, another professor of Poultry Science at the FAFS, will also be a keynote speaker.
In addition, Muhamad Murtada and Roger Mazloum, two M.S. graduate students from the FAFS, will take part in the conference’s presentations. They will respectively participate in the sessions on poultry diseases; and poultry health and management. Both of these students are receiving financial aid from the Lebanon branch of the World Poultry Science Association, to enable them to attend this conference and encourage graduate students to participate in international meetings.
Dean Daghir hopes that the conference will be a successful model for future meetings, as the idea of holding an international conference on a cruise ship is a relatively new one.

The Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences (FAFS), Department of Landscape Design and Ecosystem Management (LDEM) is hosting the International Federation of Landscape Architecture (IFLA 2016) for the first time in the region.
The conference entitled “Unfolding Middle Eastern Landscapes” is jointly organized by the newly established Lebanese Landscape Association (LELA), the American University of Beirut, FAFS, LDEM and the Lebanese University, Faculty of Agricultural Engineering and Veterinary Medicine, Department of Landscape and Territory Planning, sponsored by the International Federation of Landscape Architecture (IFLA) and with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture, Lebanon.
This conference aims to bring together landscape academics and professionals to reflect on the discourse of landscape in the Middle East. The organizers hope that speakers, contributors and participants will contribute to the environmental and cultural specificities shaping the emerging profession of landscape architecture in the Middle East. They will discuss ongoing transformations of the landscapes we inhabit, to expose different design, planning and management methodologies and approaches and to question shortcomings and obstacles to professional advancement in the region.
