Research Associate/Research Assistant Positions

 

Full-time research assistant position at the department of Landscape Design and Ecosystem Management (LDEM)
The Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences at the American University of Beirut (AUB) invites outstanding candidates to apply for a full-time research assistant position at the department of Landscape Design and Ecosystem Management (LDEM). The starting date of the appointment is January 16, 2017.

Qualifications:

  • A BS or MS degree from a recognized university.
  • At least three years of administrative assistance experience is desirable, with a preference for experience in providing assistance to the operations of an academic department.
  • Working proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of design software use (e.g. Photoshop, AutoCAD,..) is desirable
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative, financial, student, and faculty support.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of university procedures and policies.
  • Place requisition orders on the Oracle system and following up.
  • Ensure full and appropriate use of resources, including follow-up on equipment and facilities maintenance.
  • Provide academic research support including document review, citation verification, and drafting/proofreading.
  • Work closely with design instructors to compile and digitize the end of year projects
  • Help in the coordination of the Internship program for students
  • Manage and regularly update the Department’s website
  • Monitoring and updating LDEM Alumni records
  • Help in the production of the Department’s promotional material.
  • Assist in conducting the Program Learning Outcomes & Course Learning Outcome (PLO/CLO) assessment of the Bachelor’s program in Landscape Architecture each semester: gather data and assist in writing of the PLO Assessment report (Direct & Indirect)
  • Compile resource library of maps and field information for all class and students projects.
  • Assist in the preparation of miscellaneous events and activities held by the department.

 Applications:

  • A letter of purpose (not more than 500 words)

The curriculum vitae and letter of purpose should be submitted electronically to ldem@aub.edu.lb. Shortlisted candidates may be asked to participate in an in-person interview. Selected applicant will be expected to begin on January 16, 2017.

Duration:

12 months with possibility of renewal. Salary is within AUB scale (Effective January 16, 2017).
