Welcome to Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud Center for American Studies and Research (CASAR)! 

 

Welcome to American University of Beirut's Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud Center for American Studies and Research. CASAR is dedicated to increasing international understanding primarily by increasing knowledge of the United States in the Middle East. CASAR pursues this goal through interdisciplinary teaching and research in American Studies -- focusing on a broad range of issues including the historical, cultural, and political  issues -- and through outreach efforts such as conferences and public lectures. The Center's efforts are continuously evolving. It currently offers a Minor in American Studies. For more information about CASAR and its activities, please select one of the categories on the left.

Mission and Statement 

CASAR aims to establish and maintain a world-class locus of activity and exchange of ideas for an interdisciplinary community of researchers, teachers, students and others in the Middle East interested in building further understanding of American institutions and practices (political, social, economic, cultural) and the complex contextual realities in which these institutions and practices have developed and currently exist.
