Research Interests
Our research focuses on cancer chemoprevention and treatment using naturally occurring retinoids and synthetic retinoid analogs. We are also interested in identifying and characterizing anti-tumor activities of indigenous Middle Eastern plants and in deciphering their mechanism of action. We rely on in vitro and/or in vivo models of epidermal squamous cell carcinogenesis and human adult T-cell leukemia and lymphoma to determine the following:
- Role of retinoids and their receptors in the control of cell proliferation, differentiation, and cell death.
- Anti-tumorigenic activities and mechanism of action of indigenous Lebanese plant extracts.
- Epigenetic mechanisms of plant-derived anticancer drugs.
