Center for Arab and Middle Eastern Studies (CAMES)
 
Affiliates Program

Academics and PhD candidates may apply for affiliation with CAMES in order to facilitate their research in Lebanon. 

Required documents:

  • Letter or email to the director of CAMES, Professor Samer Frangie, introducing yourself, requesting the affiliation and mentioning the dates during which you would like to be affiliated with CAMES.
  • For academics, we require a letter of recommendation from the department chair. For students, we require a letter of recommendation from the advisor.
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Research proposal

An affiliation with CAMES provides the following (costs to the applicant are listed):

  • Internet access and wi-fi on AUB campus (free)
  • ID card (10,000 LBP)

The following conditions apply:

  • The longest term of affiliation that we can offer is one year, with only one renewal possible for another year.   
  • Affiliates for terms longer than three months may be asked to give a presentation about their research.
  • CAMES cannot help applicants to obtain a residency permit in Lebanon.
