At the "America in the Middle East /  The Middle East in America" conference, a special workshop focused on the nature and prospects for American Studies in the Middle East.  The workshop brought together program directors and scholars of American studies from nine Middle Eastern and North African countries together with a number of interested scholars from Europe and North America.  In order to continue the conversation begun at the workshop, AUB has agreed to host a listserv on American studies in the Middle East.  If you wish to join the listserv discussion, simply send an email message to casar@aub.edu.lb with the word “subscribe” in the subject line.  When you receive a posting from the list, simply choose “reply all” to respond to the entire list; to post an original message, send it to amst-me@aub.edu.lb .
