Connections and Ruptures: America and the Middle East

An Interdisciplinary Conference

6-9 January 2010
Beirut, Lebanon

Submission Guidelines

To Submit a Proposal

1.  Please read the Call for Proposals to learn about the theme and scope of the conference.

2.  In addition to individual papers, we welcome proposals for pre-organized sessions that follow both traditional and non-traditional formats. Because CASAR will subsidize every member of every session, it should be noted that, unlike some conferences, proposals for full sessions maybe less likely to be accepted than individual paper proposals. See instructions for pre-organized session proposals in both traditional and non-traditional formats.

3. Look at this sample abstract, and prepare your abstract according to the following guidelines;

  • Left justify and single space the entire document

  • Use 12 pt type (Times New Roman preferred)

  • Begin with the title in Bold

  • Skip one line, then on separate lines list: name, affiliation, and email address

  • Skip one line and type the abstract (300 words or less)

Abstracts not abiding by this format may not be considered.

4.  Please send the following documents via electronic mail to casar@aub.edu.lbby June 1, 2009:

  • Submission Form (click on this link and when the dialogue box opens, choose "save" and then fill it out and save it on your computer). For pre-organized sessions, submit one form for each presenter.

  • Proposed abstract or session description

  • Curriculum Vitae: The CV should include the author's name and should be single spaced. A short CV is preferred.

Please convert other formats to make them Windows XP readable.  If in doubt, include a second copy in Rich Text Format.  We will notify authors of accepted papers by July 1, 2009.

4.  Approximately one month after the conference, presenters will have the opportunity to submit their papers for inclusion in a proceedings volume that will be internally refereed.
