- AUB continues to raise funds for the Edward Said Chair of American Studies. The endowed chair, announced in the Spring of 2004, commemorates the memory of Dr. Said who often urged the university to establish a program in American Studies. Until the endowment is complete, the chair will be filled as a visiting position.
- The CASAR Executive Committee is exploring the establishment of an M.A. Program in American Studies.
- CASAR is expanding links with American Studies programs in universities in the Middle East, Europe, and North America.
- CASAR is continuing to expand its links and coordination with the other Alwaleed centers
