Graduate Studies in Chemistry
The program leads to the M.Sc. degree. You can specialize in one of the following four major areas of Chemistry: Analytical, Inorganic, Organic and Physical.
The Department has ten professors, research-active in all the above areas. The Department is committed to excellence in teaching and research.
Requirements: A graduate student is required to complete 7 graduate courses (21 credits): at least two from his/her field of specialization, four other courses in any area, and a tutorial. The student is required to carry out a research project under the supervision of one of the professors and submit a thesis on his/her work. The program normally spans two academic years.
Financial support: A graduate student in good standing receives a graduate assistantship with full coverage of the tuition fees + a monthly stipend. He/she is normally required to supervise teaching laboratory sessions for undergraduate students.
AUB is one of the most prestigious universities in the Middle East. It was founded in 1866 and serves about five thousand students form Lebanon, the Arab countries and the World. It has a superb campus situated on a hill overlooking the Mediterranean sea. The Chemistry building lies on the lower part of the campus, close to the seaside.
Beirut, capital of Lebanon, is the gate of the Middle East. It is an important historical, cultural and tourist center. A coastal Mediterranean city of about one million inhabitants, Beirut is a crossroad of civilizations. It groups museums, universities and libraries, and has an important harbor and vast market places.
