About the Chemistry Department |
|
|
Besides being in the heart of the Natural Sciences, Chemistry plays a central role in a variety of important areas such as the industry, agriculture, biology, food technology, nutrition, pharmaceuticals, engineering, environmental science and medicine.
In October 2001, the Chemistry Department at AUB started the implementation of a new undergraduate curriculum. In June 2004, the first wave of B.Sc. students following the new course track graduated. The Department focuses on the four major branches of Chemistry namely analytical, organic, inorganic and physical chemistry.

Dr. Bilal Kaafarani on IUPAC. UNESCO announced 2011 to be the International Year of Chemistry, IYC2011
in partnership with the IUPAC. Dr. Bilal R. Kaafarani was selected by IUPAC to be the 2011 International Year of Chemistry representative in Lebanon.
