Course Description:
This course will examine the rise of science and its impact on society from the early modern period until the beginning of the twenty-first century. The approach of this course will be inter-disciplinary in relying on history of science, philosophy of science, and sociology of science. It will trace the development of science and its method, outline the basic concepts inherent in landmark scientific theories, and present some of the challenges posed by science in the modern world.
