Research
Ghazi Ghaith has a Ph.D. in Language Education (ESL/EFL) from Indiana University and is currently Professor and Chairman of the Education Department at the American University of Beirut. He teaches graduate and undergraduate courses and conducts regular in-service training in Lebanon and the Middle East. His professional interests include curriculum development and material writing and his research focuses on the applications of cooperative learning in language teaching and teacher education.
Dr. Ghaith has served on the High Committee for Curriculum Development of the Lebanese National Center for Educational Research and Developed (NCERD) and coordinated the work of several committees of authors that developed the English language curriculum and national textbooks. He also served on the Executive Board of Directors of the International Association for the Study of Cooperation in Education (IASCE) and was instrumental in introducing cooperative learning as an instructional framework in several schools and educational settings.
Dr. Ghaith’s publications appeared in Reading Psychology, International Journal of Bilingual Education and Bilingualism, Bilingual Research Journal, Journal of Student Centered Learning, Educational Research, Educational Research and Evaluation, Educational Research Quarterly, Education and Training, Journal of Education for Teaching, Foreign Language Annals, System, Teaching and Teacher Education, Language culture and Curriculum, TESL Reporter and many other education and applied linguistics journals.
