  • Excursion 1: Visit to Down Town Beirut and Gemmayze Street, Saturday Oct 29, 7pm - 11pm: Bus transportation cost is covered with early registration. $10 with regular registration.  Other costs (e.g., dinner) are not covered by registration. In this activity, you will get a chance to visit the famous downtown area of Beirut which was renovated after the civil war, and Gemmayze, the popular social avenue nearby. This area is famous for its cafes, restaurants, and pubs as well as Roman ruins. Buses will leave AUB from the Hostler parking garage at 7:00 PM, and participants will be dropped off in the downtown area and picked up from the same spot at 11:00 PM to go back to AUB. You will have around 3-4 hours to explore the area. AUB students are available to escort you if requested. Only transportation costs to/from AUB are covered.

  • Excursion 2: Visit to the historic silk factory and international carpets museum, and a folk dinner party in the Lebanese mountains, Sunday Oct 30, 2.30pm - 9.30pm: $50 with early registration. $65 with regular registration. All costs covered.  Visit the Bsous Silk Factory Museum, experience the whole process of breeding silkworms and extracting silk, one of the main industries and exports of Lebanon during the 19th century, and learn the history of the famous "silk road." The museum also features an exquisite international carpets exhibit. After that, enjoy a lovely folk dinner party and Lebanese music at the historic Sakhra (Rock) restaurants in the mountains overseeing Beirut. Cost will cover all transportation, museum and exhibit admission, and dinner party.
