  • Who we are:
The Initiative on Standard Of Practice In Childbirth ( ISOPIC) aims to formulate and contribute to evidence-based practices in childbirth and maternal health care in Lebanon, as well as to participate in the dissemination of these practices. The initiative is a collaborative effort by a team of dedicated practicing obstetricians from various hospitals and medical centers from all regions in Lebanon.

    Our Objectives:
The objective of ISOPIC is to establish a model of best practices in obstetric care in Lebanon. ISOPIC also aims to operationalize and help ensure that these standards are adopted and practiced at a national level.

    Our Plan of Action:
ISOPIC is working along the following:

    1. Developing an initial core group to standardize antenatal package, antenatal record, and intrapartum practice protocols
    2. Inviting more members from different areas of Lebanon to the ISOPIC membership willing to propagate the objectives of the initiative.
    3. Promoting evidence- based practices in maternal health through: accumulating available evidence, research, advocacy, and dissemination.
    4. "Branding" or "franchising" ISOPIC members' practices so that their standards of maternal care services are similar in terms of quality and "women- friendliness".
    5. Advocating through holding regular meetings and discussions with various stakeholders and utilizing the media to promote the initiative and its objective and to help reach women.
