1 Getting StartedHow do I apply for graduate studies at AUB?

Interested candidates should apply online at:
https://graduateadmissions.aub.edu.lb (upon registering your name, an email message will be sent to the address you provided. In case you did  not receive it, please make sure you check your Junk/Spam folder or contact us at graduate.council@aub.edu.lb.)

For more information about your application decision, contact the Admissions office at grad-admissions@aub.edu.lb  or 961-1-374374 ext. 2596. The admission decision (including rejected applications) will be communicated  via email. If accepted, the email message will include a link in order to confirm your enrollment within three weeks of the decision notification date.

4ProgramsWhat are the different degree programs at AUB?

For details, click here (Some of the listed programs may not be offered in a specific semester). Applicant can check all offered programs for a specific semester by logging into the online application system under "Programs" section.

5ProgramsHow many programs can I apply to per application?

Applicant can apply to three Master’s programs per application.

6Educational Background What is a “Transcript”? When is the deadline for submitting it

A “Transcript” is a printed document which shows the applicant’s academic records and it includes the courses taken at a given educational institution and their earned grades. Applicant will not be able to submit her/his application without uploading at least the unofficial copy in the online application.

All applicants should submit their official transcipt
timely.The official transcript should be sent to the Admissions office at AUB by post mail or by hand per the dates and deadlines document available in question # 1 in this FAQ page. Make sure that the documents are sent in a sealed envelope where the application code and name are written on it.

7Exam ScoresWhat are the required exams scores?

All required exams with their validity dates are indicated in the "Exam Scores" section in the Online Graduate Application according to the program applied to. To check the ELPR exam scores submission deadlines, see dates and deadlines document available in question # 1.

8Exam ScoresCan I submit my online application without submitting my ELPR (English Language Proficiency Requirement) scores and send them later?

Applicants to the graduate program, other than AUB graduates and graduates of colleges or universities recognized  and located in North America, Great Britain, Australia, and New Zealand, must meet the English Language Proficiency Requirement (ELPR).

Applicants will be able to submit an online application  without scores only for the ELPR. However, if accepted, admission status will be “accepted pending the applicant meet ELPR” until s/he provides official scores on time. To check the official ELPR exam scores submission deadline, see dates and deadlines document available in question # 1.

Use the AUB's ETS school code 0902 to ensure official submission of test scores to the AUB Admissions Office.

If official scores are available as hard copy, make sure that you send it to the AUB Admissions office:

9Exam ScoresCan I submit my online application without submitting my "GRE General Test" scores?

Applicant will not be able to submit the online application without providing at least his/her unofficial "GRE General Test" scores which will be given  the same day of the test.  To check the official ELPR exam scores submission deadline, see dates and deadlines document available in question # 1.

10Exam ScoresCan I submit my online application without submitting my "GMAT" scores?

Required for MBA program at the Olayan School of Business. Applicants for the MBA program may submit their admission applications without providing the required GMAT scores. However, they need to submit the official valid scores (no older than 5 years at the time the application is submitted) not later than one month after the application deadline*.

Otherwise, if accepted, the admission status will be “accepted as a special student not working for a degree pending the submission of a valid GMAT score of a minimum of 570 by the completion of a maximum of 12 credits.

* Although there are two deadlines for Fall semester applications, GMAT results are expected by one month after the second deadline. There is only one deadline for Spring semester applicant.

11Exam ScoresWhat if I did not reach the required exam score for the ELPR (English Language Proficiency Requirement)?

Applicants may be admitted with English language proficiency test scores lower than those required. 12Exam Scores How may I secure that my exam scores are received by the Admissions office at AUB?Upon registering for any test, applicants must specify that results be sent to the AUB office of Admissions. Use AUB’S ETS school code (0902) to ensure official submission of test scores. To check the official ELPR exam scores submission deadline, see dates and deadlines document available in question # 1.

13Recommendation LettersHow many recommendation letters are required?

All applicants (including AUB alumnus) to AUB graduate programs should submit recommendation letters. Make sure there are as many as each program requires.

-For Master’s degree applications, two recommendation letters are required per program.
-For PhD degree applications, three recommendation letters are required  per program.

Recommendation letters can be presented from previous tutors or employers who are familiar with your past and current academic and professional pursuits. Applicant may wish to suggest the same recommender(s) for more than program.

Recommendation letters may be submitted either online or by hand to the admissions office at AUB. After the applicant enters the recommender's name and email addresses, the recommender(s) will be receiving an email with all instructions needed to submit the letter(s). It's the applicant's responsibility to follow up with the recommender(s) for submitting the recommendation letter before the application submissions deadline.

14 Recommendation LettersI already have the recommendation letters by hand; can I upload them to my application? What should I do in this case?

Recommendation letters cannot be uploaded to the online application by the applicant. In this case, the applicant needs to enter the recommenders’ details online before delivering the letters by postal mail or by hand to the AUB Admissions office. Otherwise, the recommendation letters will not be uploaded to the application.

15Recommendation LettersHow may I secure that my recommendation letters are well received by the Admissions Office?The application system allows the applicant to track whether the letter of the recommender  listed has been received or not. This option also allows the applicant to remind her/his recommender(s) to submit the requested feedback before the application deadline.

Check the AUB Tuition Calculator to provide an estimate of the total education cost of attending AUB (Information about the financial assistance AUB could provide in terms of need-based aid or graduate and research assistanships are not included).
17Financial AidHow do I apply for a scholarship?

For more information about scholarships & financial aid options, visit the “Financial Aid” section in the online application system or click here.

Applicants opting for a non-thesis option in the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture (FEA) will not be offered Graduate Assistantship.

18Financial AidWho do I put as a reference?

In the case of Financial Aid, a reference is someone who is able to express why you would be considered for financial aid or someone who is familiar with your financial status.
In the case of Graduate Assistantship (GA), a reference is someone who is able to describe your academic performance and express why you would be considered for Graduate Assistantship.

No recommendation letters are required from the GA references for the submission of the applciation. The references may be contacted from the Dean's office later based on the information provided by the applicant.

19 Program RequirementsWhat is a Portfolio?A collection of works  to display the applicant's skills, experiences and knowledge.
20 Program RequirementsWhat is a “Statement of Purpose”?A detailed statement of purpose (~400-500 words) is required for each program, indicating the purpose for pursuing graduate study in that particular field at AUB, and specifying the applicant’s research interests and/or practical experience in the field.
21 Program Requirements

What is a "English Writing Sample"? (For the English Department Master's program)

A sustained piece of writing you submitted for your academic coursework (1000+ words).  It should not be a pdf, but a text in a rtf or word format. This is because the selection committee is particularly interested in your ability to write academic prose.

22SubmissionHow do I pay the application fees? Can it be waived?

The application fee cannot be waived. When the applicant  is ready to submit the online application, s/he must pay the application fee online, using a credit card or pay in person at the AUB Cashier's Office.

If the applicant chose to pay at the cashier, s/he must select “Pay at Cashier” option in the submission section and pick up the payment slip to the Cashier’s office at AUB.

-For PhD applications: LL75,000 or $50 or the equivalent.
-For Master’s applications: LL75,000 or $50 or the equivalent.

Submission

How do I know if my online application is complete?

A graduate application is considered complete when it includes the completed application form sections as well as the application fee. Please pay attention to these dates and deadlines as you continue the application process by clicking here.

24After Being AcceptedI got accepted to AUB graduate studies but I need to postpone my registration for another semester. What is needed in this case?Graduate applicants who are offered admission for a semester and who do not register for that semester may be eligible for admission the following semester pending availability of places. A  petition  should  be  submitted  to  the  Office  of  Admissions  by  December 15, 2016 for those
accepted for Fall 2016-17 and wish to enroll in Spring 2016-17, and by July 29, 2017 for those
accepted for Spring 2016-17 and wish to enroll in Fall 2017-18. For more information, contact Admissions office at grad-admissions@aub.edu.lb or 961-1-374374 ext. 2596.
