The Multimedia Unit can help you convert your files from any format to any other format. We can convert hard copy documents, VHS and audio cassettes, or files that are already in digital format to the format of your choice.
Cassette to Digital Format
|
If you have audio cassettes that you want to use in your teaching, you can convert the contents to digital format using Audacity. The result will be a digital MP3 or WAV files that you can save on your computer, on your Moodle course, or in the Digital Repository. Converting your material from cassette to digital makes it easier for you to share the content with your colleagues and students. Request a Session

VHS to Digital Format
|
If you have VHS tapes that you want to use in your teaching, you can convert the contents to digital format using Sony's DVD Recorder. The result will be a digital DVD or WMV file that you can save on your computer, on your Moodle course, or in the Digital Repository. Converting your material from VHS tapes to digital makes it easier for you to share the contents with your colleagues and students. Request a Session

Paper to Digital Format
|
Instead of photocopying papers for your students or placing them on reserve in the Library, you can scan them and convert them to digital format. The result will be a digital JPG or PSD file that you can save on your computer, on your Moodle course, or in the Digital Repository. In addition to that, the final product can be an editable MS Word document, meaning you will be able to update the digital document. This is done using OCR (Optical Character Recognition). Digital Format Conversion
|
If you have a digital file that you want to use in your teaching, we can advise you on the best format to use and help you convert the file. For example, if you have a video of format AVI and size 1 GB we can help you convert it to another format with a much smaller size. At the Multimedia Unit, we can convert any digital format to any other digital format, but choosing the best format depends on how you plan to use the file. Below are the four types of files and, for each, a simple scenario of how we can help you with format conversion.
