The heritage building housing Auxiliary Services near AUB’s Medical Gate was dedicated in the name of long-time philanthropist and alumnus Hisham Jaroudi, during a ceremony held on June 21, 2012.

“I am proud to be able to support our alma mater and I am committed hopefully to stand again and again knowing that whatever I do for AUB will never repay what AUB has done for me,” said Hisham Jaroudi, who graduated in 1966 with a bachelor’s degree in architecture.

The ceremony, which was held in front of the building, was attended by AUB President Peter Dorman, AUB trustees, vice-presidents, deans, alumni, friends and members of the Jaroudi family.

“We are delighted to dedicate this portion of the building in the name of Hisham Jaroudi,” said President Dorman. “He has already contributed to the Bechtel School of Engineering entrance renovation, the brand-new nursing school auditorium as well as to the College Hall and FEA funds.”

Dorman described Jaroudi as a highly successful businessman, with numerous projects in the region, who balances his success with generous philanthropy and public services. “He has already contributed to the AUBMC lobby which we plan to inaugurate later this year with great fanfare,” added Dorman.

“Jaroudi typifies the typical AUB alumnus with a track record of successful engineering and entrepreneurial projects in the region, in addition to philanthropy and community services, topped with undying loyalty to AUB,” said Associate Vice President for Development Imad Baalbaki. “Today we are witnessing yet another of his philanthropic gestures.”

As for Jaroudi, he considered that alumni progresses and successes were those of AUB and AUB’s successes were those of Lebanon. “I hope our leaders will be for Lebanon like AUB alumni, one hand for one cause,” he concluded. “For this I pledge again and look forward to standing in a new place for a new inauguration of a new project.”
